Carrière Wellington - English guided Tour
Présentation
Visit the Wellington Tunnels in English from 14th July 2025
20 meters underneath Arras, discover the Carrière Wellington, a placed filled with memories and emotions. It is there that from November 1916, the British planned the Spring Offensive of 1917.
Their brilliant idea: charging New Zealand tunnellers with the task of connecting the old limestone quarries under Arras, and transforming them into a network of underground billets, where 24,000 soldiers waited for the attack.
The lift takes you 20 meters deep, where the guided tour makes you share the soldier's lives and intimacy. Upon surfacing, you stay in the footsteps of the soldiers by watching a film describing the shock that was the Battle of Arras.
